Kevin de Bruyne, midfielder for Manchester City, spoke about the challenges of catching up in the Premier League title race despite their recent 4-1 win over Arsenal.
De Bruyne scored two goals and provided an assist for John Stones in the match, which has put City within two points of leaders Arsenal with two games in hand.
However, de Bruyne emphasized that there is still a long way to go in the season and that City cannot afford to lose focus.
“It’s too long left. It’s so hard,” the Belgian midfielder said. “A lot of things can happen. It’s still seven games, that’s a lot of points and we’re still behind them.
“I know this team and we will not give in until it’s mathematically done. Our schedule is hectic, there’s a lot of things going on and now we need to prepare for Sunday and Fulham.”
City manager Pep Guardiola had previously stated that Arsenal were the title favorites, but after the win, he admitted that City are now in a good position.
The next three games will be crucial for City, as they face Fulham, Leeds, and West Ham.
Despite their recent success, de Bruyne and Guardiola both stressed that the team cannot become complacent and must continue to work hard to secure the title.
