Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has alleged a plot to delay the 2023 General Election.
The source of his belief is due to the current nationwide scarcity of cash, new Naira notes and petrol, which he believes is intended to incite violent citizens while derailing the electoral process in order to bring about an interim government.
Tinubu accused President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration of introducing a new Naira policy that resulted in the current petrol shortage weeks before critical elections.
In addition, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State supports him by pointing fingers at presidential aides as being behind this fuel crisis in order to undermine support for their party.
Opposers such as Atiku Abubakar however accuse Tinubu’s camp of engaging in hate speech with attempts to disrupt the electoral system.
He stated during a rally yesterday that certain people are hoarding money and hoping for angry citizens to spark violence and lead to the postponement or cancellations of vital elections.
He explained his motivation for running; citing better human lives and jobs as primary goals if he wins – encouraging walking down to polling booths rather than any other forms of transport.
Finally, Tinubu charged his supporters with promises for a better life free from fear – pinpointing dignity and happiness free from poverty, hunger and violence as benchmarks for success
