The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that Prince Harry and his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan, will be visiting Nigeria in May 2024. During their stay, the royal couple will have the opportunity to meet with military personnel and engage in various cultural activities.
Prince Harry, a prominent member of the British royal family, is known for his involvement in the Invictus Games, an international multi-sporting event that provides a recovery pathway for wounded, injured, and sick service men and women.
The games not only offer physical rehabilitation but also raise awareness and recognition for soldiers in society. At the last outing of the Invictus Games, Nigeria participated with a team that won gold and silver medals.
With this visit, Nigeria aims to strengthen its presence in the games and explore the possibility of hosting the event in the future. The Honourable Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Badaru, has already expressed his willingness to host the games when granted to Nigeria.
The DHQ expressed its honor and delight for the acceptance of the royal couple’s visit and looks forward to the interactions between Prince Harry, Meghan, and the Nigerian military.
