In anticipation of Kylian Mbappe’s potential departure from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), the club has identified Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as their top transfer target.
Mbappe has expressed his desire to leave PSG when his contract ends in 2024, and if he chooses not to sign a new contract, the club hopes to sell him this summer.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that if Mbappe is sold, Osimhen will be PSG’s top priority.
However, Napoli, Osimhen’s current club, has raised their asking price for him to €180 million after rejecting PSG’s bid of €100 million.
If Mbappe is sold, it will provide PSG with additional funds to potentially meet Napoli’s asking price.
Napoli still intends to extend Osimhen’s contract beyond 2025, but negotiations have been delayed due to the player’s wage demands.
If Osimhen does leave Napoli, Lille forward Jonathan David is said to be their primary target.
In addition to PSG, top Premier League clubs Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool have also begun negotiations with Napoli for Osimhen, indicating a potential bidding war for the player’s services.
