D’banj, the Nigerian singer, has expressed deep concern over the ongoing dispute between Psquare and their elder brother, Jude Okoye. The conflict, which has drawn public attention, has escalated since Jude and his company were tried for alleged money laundering involving over N1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,000, according to TheCable.

Psquare, once one of Nigeria’s most influential music groups, consisted of twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye before their split in 2017. The recent trial saw Peter testifying as the first prosecution witness, a move that reportedly intensified the family rift.

Speaking on the Afrobeats Podcast, D’banj revealed he had a conversation with Peter Okoye during a recent flight. The singer believes reconciliation is still possible if the brothers engage in an open and honest discussion.

“We spoke and he shared some things with me, and all I can say is that I’m so sure there is still a chance for reconciliation. They just have to have a conversation.”

D’banj emphasized that Psquare’s music catalogue holds substantial value and could serve as a key point in settling any financial disagreements. He noted that even if they choose not to reunite musically, they can still resolve their personal and financial differences.

He called for proper intervention to protect the achievements the brothers built together. According to him, respected figures or national institutions like the Bank of Industry, and even the federal government, could play a role in guiding the family toward resolution.

D’banj made reference to a past situation where the Nigerian government intervened to help football legend Jay Jay Okocha recover his funds when a bank closed. He expressed hope that a similar level of national involvement could aid in resolving Psquare’s issues.

“I would like to beg anyone who is a mentor to them because this is beyond us, their colleagues,” D’banj said.

He appealed to the nation to step in where possible, especially if the conflict involves financial or contractual matters that could be resolved through structured agreements.

The family rift appears to have deepened recently as Peter officially cut ties with his siblings. Despite this, D’banj remains optimistic that with the right support, the brothers may find a path to peace.
