Real Madrid’s preparations for their Champions League match against RB Leipzig were disrupted when their bus was involved in an accident on Monday.
The incident occurred as the team was en route to the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig, where they were scheduled to play the Bundesliga team on Tuesday night.
Due to an airport strike, Real Madrid’s flight was diverted to Erfurt instead of Leipzig. The team then had to drive 100 miles to reach the city.
However, according to German daily BILD, the bus collided with a white Toyota after the driver attempted to change lanes.
Thankfully, no one was harmed, and only minor scratches were sustained on the driver’s side of the bus.
Despite the accident, Real Madrid’s star-studded team arrived at Leipzig’s downtown Steigenberger team hotel at around 3 p.m. local time.
However, one notable absence from the team was Jude Bellingham, the club’s wonderkid. Bellingham did not get off the bus and was not included in the squad for the match.
Bellingham’s absence was attributed to an ankle injury he suffered during a previous match against Girona, in which he scored two goals.
However, Leipzig manager Marco Rose, who previously coached Bellingham at Dortmund, expressed skepticism about the extent of the injury.
He believes that Bellingham may still feature in the Champions League clash and stated that the player might seek additional medical opinions to ensure his fitness.
As the match approaches, all eyes will be on whether Bellingham will make a surprise appearance on the field or if his injury will keep him sidelined.
