One of Real Madrid’s young prospects, Marc Cucalon, has announced his early retirement from football at just 19 years old.
Cucalon joined Madrid’s La Fábrica academy from Zaragoza in 2016 and was highly regarded for his talent and even often compared to Xabi Alonso.
However, his promising career took a dramatic turn in September 2022, when he ruptured his ACL during a Youth League match in Glasgow.
Despite battling physical and mental setbacks over the past two years, including a rare bacterial infection in the knee cartilage, Cucalon has now made the heartbreaking decision to retire.
In a heartfelt farewell posted on Instagram, he expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported him throughout his journey, including his family, friends, teammates, and the medical staff at the club.
Reflecting on his time at Real Madrid, Cucalon shared that his dreams were fulfilled by being part of the world’s greatest club, where he learned invaluable life lessons and grew both as a player and a person.
He thanked Real Madrid for their unwavering support and vowed to carry the experiences and values from his football career into the next phase of his life.
