Conflicting reports have been released regarding claims that Chelsea were set to sack manager Graham Potter should results not go his way in their upcoming matches against Leeds and Borussia Dortmund.
However, a report from the Guardian has clarified that potter is not in any immediate danger, while Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly has admitted to making a critical mistake.
Although Potter’s winning rate of 34.6% and two consecutive cup exits have seen tense reactions among the fanbase, it appears Chelsea are determined to give him far more than just half a season as head coach for now.
Nevertheless, it is understood that Boehly has acknowledged the issue of overspending in January’s transfer window which led to an overcrowded squad who are struggling to hit targets.
It is expected, however, that with summer departures offloading some of their stars, Potter will be given at least one pre-season to get his team up and running before any decisions on his status can be made.
