Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is set to return to office tomorrow as the six-month emergency rule imposed in the state comes to an end – www.naijnaira.com reports.
Deputy National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party, Okechukwu Osuoha, said the governor’s comeback must be guided by loyalty to his party and a commitment to stability.
In his chat with Vanguard, Osuoha noted that Fubara’s suspension was directly tied to the emergency declaration by President Bola Tinubu in March.
He explained, “The emergency was constitutional and limited to six months. That period has expired, and he has no choice but to resume as governor of Rivers State.”
Osuoha stressed that Fubara’s reinstatement should not fuel division but instead rebuild peace among political actors in the oil-rich state.
He urged the governor to improve ties with the State House of Assembly and repair broken relationships with political mentors.
“There must be unity, peace, and a cordial link with his godfather for Rivers to move forward,” Osuoha added.
The PDP chieftain also reminded Fubara that party loyalty remains critical, saying, “Party is supreme. Any problem you have, PDP will stand by you.”
Meanwhile, the Rivers chapter of the All Progressives Congress has openly invited Fubara to cross over to its platform ahead of his reinstatement ceremony.
The invitation came through the party’s spokesman, Darlington Nwauju, during a Channels Television interview.
