Cristiano Ronaldo recently added another milestone to his illustrious career. At 39, Ronaldo scored his 900th career goal during Portugal’s 2-1 win over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League.
Ronaldo’s career boasts numerous accolades but one title has remained elusive and that is the FIFA World cup.
Despite competing in five World Cups, Ronaldo has never reached the final, with his best finish being fourth place in 2006.
Portugal’s recent exit in the 2022 quarter-finals casts doubt on whether Ronaldo will feature in the 2026 World Cup.
When asked about the World Cup, Ronaldo downplayed its importance, saying that Portugal’s Euros victory was equivalent to winning a World Cup for him.
He emphasized his focus on enjoying football and letting records come naturally, noting, “I don’t chase records, they chase me.”
The next FIFA World Cup, to be held in Canada, Mexico, and the USA in 2026, kicks off just four months after Ronaldo’s 41st birthday.
Whether he will still be representing Portugal at that time remains uncertain.
