Ruben Amorim admitted that Manchester United might be the “worst” version of the club in history after a 3-1 defeat to Brighton, marking their sixth home league loss of the season.

United’s struggles continued despite tributes to legend Denis Law, as Yankuba Minteh put Brighton ahead early.

Bruno Fernandes equalized from the penalty spot, but Kaoru Mitoma restored Brighton’s lead, and a costly mistake from goalkeeper Andre Onana allowed Georginio Rutter to seal the victory for the visitors.

This loss left United with their worst home start in the Premier League since 1893-94, when the club was still known as Newton Heath.

Amorim, who took over in November, has only won three of 11 league matches, acknowledging the team’s underperformance.

“We are underperforming and have to accept that. It’s unacceptable to lose so many games for any Premier League club—imagine Manchester United,” he said, stressing that the team needs to survive this difficult period.

Amorim is focused on implementing his system, though he admits it’s challenging without consistent training and results.

Despite United’s struggles, Brighton secured their third consecutive win at Old Trafford, continuing their strong form.

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler praised his side’s maturity and confidence, noting they had prepared well for United’s playstyle and capitalized on their momentum after recent positive results.
