Senate President Akpabio National Assembly Salaries Insufficient

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed that the salaries of National Assembly members are insufficient to meet the demands of their constituents.

Akpabio made this statement during a debate on the impending strike planned by the Nigeria Labour Congress.

He acknowledged the hardships caused by the removal of petroleum subsidy but urged patience from the people while the government works to alleviate their suffering.

Abdulraman Kawu Suleiman, a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, supported the motion to avert the strike, stating that it would have severe economic consequences and tarnish Nigeria’s reputation internationally.

The Senate has mandated its leadership to mediate between the NLC and the Federal Government to prevent the strike.
