President Bola Tinubu has submitted a list of newly appointed service chiefs to the Senate for confirmation.
The letter was read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a plenary session.
The nominees include Maj. Gen. C.G Musa as Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen. T. A Lagbaja as Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff, and AVM H.B Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff.
The request has been referred to the Committee of the Whole.
Last week, President Tinubu also sent a letter to the House of Representatives seeking confirmation of the new service chiefs.
The president emphasized the need for a well-protected nation in light of the current security situation.
The letter reads: “In compliance with the provisions of section 18(1) of the Armed Forces Act. CAP A20 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, I am pleased to present for confirmation by the senate the four nominees listed below.
“The House of Representatives is invited to note the current security situation of our country which requires concerted efforts of both the legislature and the executive to ensure a well-protected nation.”
