South Africa's President Ramaphosa Visits Russia to Promote Peace and Cooperation

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has arrived in Saint Petersburg, Russia to lead an African delegation in talks aimed at promoting peace and cooperation between Kyiv and Moscow.

The delegation, which includes four presidents, will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to seek a road to peace and end the 16-month-long conflict that has caused devastating economic impact, loss of life, and global instability.

The mission comes as efforts to secure peace appear increasingly perilous, with both Kyiv and Moscow convinced they can win on the battlefield.

The delegation’s goals may include securing the future viability of a deal allowing grain from Ukraine to reach the global market, prisoner swaps, and fertiliser exports.
