In the race for the speaker and deputy speakership positions in the House of Representatives, six aspirants including the Majority Leader, Rep. Ado Doguwa, have stepped down from the race.

The decision was made at a meeting of members-elect under the ’10th Joint Task’ in Abuja, where they pledged their support for the All Progressive Congress (APC) endorsed candidates, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas for speaker and Rep. Benjamin Kalu for deputy speaker.

The aspirants who stepped down include Rep. Abdulraheem Olaoye, Rep. Makki Yalleman, Rep. Abiola Makinde, Rep. Francis Waive, and Rep. Julius Ihonberev.

They expressed their loyalty to the party and their support for the chosen candidates, citing their integrity, capacity, and ability to mobilize ideas for the betterment of Nigeria.
