Speculations about Nyesom Wike’s party switch have grown stronger after his meeting with Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The APC confirmed the meeting on their Twitter account, stating that Wike visited their national secretariat to congratulate Ganduje on his appointment as party chairman.
This meeting has fueled rumors of Wike’s potential switch to the APC, especially considering his previous falling out with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before the last general election.
Wike was a key figure in the G5 group that opposed the PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, due to their decision to retain Iyorchia Ayu as the national chairman.
Other members of the G5 include Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, and former governors Samuel Ortom, Okezie Ikpeazu, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
They demanded Ayu’s removal as a condition for supporting Atiku in the election.
