Chelsea have been rocked by news of a potentially serious knee injury to veteran defender Thiago Silva.
The Brazilian is reported to have damaged his medial collateral ligament and could be sidelined for up to six weeks.
This is a huge blow for manager Graham Potter and the Blues, who are facing crucial upcoming games in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
Silva has been in top form this season, captaining Chelsea and playing more minutes than any other player.
With no time to bring in a replacement, Potter must rely on Kalidou Koulibaly, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile and Trevoh Chalobah to fill the gap created by Silva’s absence.
Still there is some good news for Chelsea with N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic expected to step up their recovery from long-term injuries while they monitor Cesar Azpilicueta following his head injury against Southampton.
