Bright Osayi-Samuel is attracting major interest as he prepares to leave Fenerbahce when his contract expires at the end of June, NaijNaira can report.

Transfer Feed claims that newly-promoted Birmingham City are pushing to land the Super Eagles defender in a move that could surprise many fans and analysts.

Despite talks with Besiktas falling apart over salary demands, Osayi-Samuel remains a wanted man across Europe, with Crystal Palace also monitoring his situation.

The 27-year-old, who turns 28 in December, has rejected multiple extension offers from Fenerbahce, where he has impressed in both domestic and continental competitions.

Birmingham, who topped League One last season, are building a squad strong enough to challenge for Premier League promotion and see Osayi-Samuel as a key piece.

“It would be a surprising transfer, especially given the level he’s been playing at,” a source familiar with the situation told Transfer Feed.

If he signs, Osayi-Samuel would become the fifth Nigerian to play for Birmingham, following in the footsteps of Obafemi Martins, Sone Aluko, Dele Adebola, and Viv Solomon-Otabor.

Martins remains the most notable, having played briefly for the club in 2011 and scoring in the League Cup Final.

Osayi-Samuel’s next move could come down to ambition versus stability, with Birmingham’s project offering both game time and a potential return to England’s top flight.

Talks are ongoing, and his decision is expected soon, as clubs scramble to finalize squads before pre-season gets fully underway.
