Femi Fani-Kayode, Director of New Media of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, has stated that supporting a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 presidential election does not make Christians like him any less of a Christian than those who opposed it.

He emphasized that religious bigotry, whether Muslim or Christian, must be rejected and condemned by all.

Fani-Kayode urged the leaders of the Body of Christ to disavow themselves from Peter Obi’s “religious war” agenda and publicly dissociate themselves from his villainous and venomous agenda.

He called on them to be discerning, reasonable, fair, impartial, wise, and balanced when getting involved in politics, and to stop being partisan and condemning others for their choices.

He also reminded people that before being Christians or Muslims, Nigerians are first and foremost Nigerians.

The peace, unity, progress, and prosperity of Nigeria should be the first priority of every leader and politician worth his salt, he added.

Fani-Kayode urged leaders to build genuine bridges of love, understanding, compassion, sensitivity, camaraderie, and fraternity between all ethnic nationalities and religious faiths in Nigeria.

He stressed that Nigeria’s strength lies in its ethnic and religious diversity, and that no ethnic or religious group has sole ownership of the country.

In his statement, Fani-Kayode made it clear that Christians who supported the Muslim-Muslim ticket did so because they believed it was the best choice for the country at the time.

He criticized those who were silent when Christians were being butchered, slaughtered, and persecuted all over the country but now claim to be fighting a religious war.

He warned that Nigeria must not allow sectarian and religious considerations to determine its politics or the choices made in terms of leadership.

Two wrongs do not make a right, he added.
