Tambuwal Blasts APC Less Governance, More Propaganda

Former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, has once again taken a swipe at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of prioritizing political showmanship over actual governance.

Speaking at a North-West PDP zonal meeting in Kaduna, Tambuwal claimed the APC has weaponized economic hardship to coerce politicians into defecting—not out of conviction, but sheer survival. He argued that inflation, joblessness, and rising insecurity have driven desperate political turncoats into the APC’s arms, rather than any genuine belief in its policies.

Predictably, the APC fired back. Party spokesperson Felix Morka labeled Tambuwal a “serial defector” whose political career is dictated by personal gain rather than principle. Morka dismissed his criticisms as hypocritical, pointing out Tambuwal’s own party-hopping history.

Undeterred, Tambuwal’s media team countered that the APC’s response was nothing more than a deflection tactic—designed to silence dissent and distract Nigerians from a deepening crisis. They accused the ruling party of peddling economic progress while millions struggle to afford basic necessities. “Foreign reserves and trade surpluses mean little when people can’t afford food, shelter, or healthcare,” the statement read.

Tambuwal, a veteran politician, warned that APC’s strong-arm tactics and propaganda could lead Nigeria toward one-party authoritarianism. He urged Nigerians to resist political opportunism and demand accountability rather than fall for the ruling party’s gimmicks.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Mariya Mahmoud, rallied APC members to close ranks and strengthen grassroots mobilization. At a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, she praised the party’s achievements and called for unity, stressing that APC’s continued dominance hinges on internal cohesion.

FCT APC Chairman Abdulmalik Usman echoed her sentiments, emphasizing the need for internal democracy as the party braces for future elections. He lauded members for their dedication, crediting their efforts for APC’s sustained grip on power.
