An explosion rocked the Rivers State House of Assembly complex on Sunday night, creating panic and chaos.

According to reports, suspected arsonists threw an explosive into the complex around 9:25 pm.

The incident occurred amidst rumors of alleged moves by some lawmakers to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The explosion has raised concerns about the safety and security of the lawmakers and the state government.

In response to the incident, over 17 security trucks and four Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) have been stationed at the facility.

Additionally, more than 50 Federal Security personnel have been mobilized to ensure the safety of the complex.

The motive behind the explosion is still unknown, and investigations are currently underway to determine the culprits and their intentions.

The incident has further heightened tensions in the state, as political rivalries continue to escalate.
