Tiger Woods has undergone a successful ankle surgery to address post-traumatic arthritis in his right leg, which he injured in a car wreck earlier this year.
The subtalar fusion procedure was performed at HSS Sports Medicine Institute in New York, and Woods is currently recovering and beginning his rehabilitation.
However, there is no timeline for his return to normal activities.
It is expected that he will miss the rest of this year’s majors, including the PGA Championship, US Open, and British Open.
The recovery period for this type of surgery is at least 12 weeks, and a plaster cast may be required for six weeks.
Woods most recently played at the Masters but was forced to withdraw due to re-aggravating his plantar fasciitis.
He has completed 72 holes just twice in his last five events, and his leg will never be the same again.
