President Bola Tinubu has dismissed Atiku Abubakar’s attempt to use his academic records from Chicago State University (CSU) against him at the elections petitions tribunal.

Tinubu argued that the Nigerian court no longer admits evidence, making Abubakar’s efforts a wild goose chase. Abubakar had sought to nullify Tinubu’s election victory, alleging electoral fraud and narcotics dealing.

However, Tinubu’s lawyers stated that the deadline for admitting evidence in the tribunal had already passed, and the court was in the process of issuing a judgment.

Tinubu’s lawyers also argued that the information Abubakar sought was irrelevant, except for verifying whether Tinubu had received a diploma and graduated from CSU.

The president blamed a university clerk for entering wrong information on his records, which the CSU registrar confirmed in a sworn affidavit, suggesting it was likely a result of human error.
