Nigerians have gone through hell Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration APC government policies

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has sharply criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing his two years in office as disappointing and marked by severe hardship.

According to The Sun Nigeria, the PDP, through its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of inflicting economic pain, worsening insecurity, and allowing corruption to flourish unchecked.

The PDP stated that Nigerians “have gone through hell” since President Tinubu assumed office in May 2023. The party urged the president to urgently revisit economic decisions and security measures that it said have plunged the country into deeper crisis.

“The situation in Nigeria has become so unbearable that many talented citizens are now fleeing the country, with others resorting to suicide to escape the agonies inflicted by the APC government,” the PDP spokesperson said.

The opposition party criticized the abrupt removal of petrol subsidies and naira devaluation, warning that such actions have driven up inflation and caused widespread business closures and job losses. It pointed out that petrol now sells for over ₦1,000 per litre—up from ₦87—and the naira has weakened from ₦167 to over ₦1,600 per US dollar since the APC took office.

Rising inflation, currently nearing 40%, and a youth unemployment rate above 42% have intensified poverty and hunger across the country. The PDP claimed the worsening situation has pushed many Nigerians into hopelessness.

The statement alleged that more than 600,000 people have lost their lives to terrorism and banditry since Tinubu took office. The PDP attributed this to what it described as government negligence and failure to protect citizens.

The PDP also expressed concern over the departure of multinational companies from Nigeria, saying investors prefer countries where leadership is more responsive and infrastructure is functional.

It further condemned what it called excessive borrowing and reckless spending, claiming the government has accumulated ₦182.91 trillion in debt with little to show in terms of public benefit. A new $24.14 billion (₦38.24 trillion) loan request was also criticized.

Additionally, the PDP accused the ruling party of using state resources for personal luxuries, including private jets and expensive trips, instead of easing the burden on Nigerians.

The party urged President Tinubu to use the remaining two years of his term to correct course by fixing the economy, restoring security, and enlisting competent economic managers.
