The suspension of the Governor of the Central Bank, Mr Godwin Emefiele, has been met with joy by many traders in Umuahia, Abia State capital.
The traders, who spoke at Isi Gate and Orie Ugba markets, accused the Emefiele-led CBN of ruining their businesses through poor management of the naira redesign policy.
They also alleged that the suspended CBN Governor proved ‘stubborn’ by not obeying the directives of the Supreme Court concerning the naira issue.
Many traders expressed their happiness over the news, citing the cashless challenges of February and March as a major factor in their losses.
One fruit dealer even called it one of her happiest moments in life, as Emefiele’s policies had caused her significant hardship.
The shoe dealer also lamented the poor network system that characterized the cashless period, which left his money trapped in failed online transactions.
Overall, the traders advised Nigerian leaders to be mindful of actions that could affect the general well-being of the citizenry.
