Tyson Fury has weighed in on the highly anticipated bout between rising heavyweight Moses Itauma and veteran Dillian Whyte, set to take place in mid-August — www.naijnaira.com reports.

While speaking with ProBoxing Fans, Fury gave a grounded view of the clash, calling it a timely test for Itauma. He acknowledged that Whyte, despite his age and inactivity, still poses danger. The last time Fury shared the ring with Whyte was back in 2022, and since then, Whyte has had only three fights, including a decision win over Jermaine Franklin and knockouts of Christian Hammer and Ebenezer Tetteh.

Fury believes the timing could favor Itauma, who remains undefeated with 12 wins and has recorded three quick stoppages in his last three appearances. “It’s a big step-up for Moses because he hasn’t really fought anyone on Dillian’s level,” Fury noted.

Having sparred Itauma while preparing for Oleksandr Usyk, Fury described the 20-year-old as someone with sharp instincts and fast learning ability. “He’s like a sponge… he listens.”

Fury added, “Make no mistake, Dillian Whyte is a massive puncher.” Whether Itauma is ready or it comes too soon, Fury says, “That’s why you’ve got to watch it and find out.”
