The Vice Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University in Enugu, Rev. Fr. Christian Anieke, has announced that the overall best student in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UMTE) will receive a full scholarship to study at the university’s College of Medicine.
The announcement was made during the presentation of a car to the first male student to hold the position of “Vice Chancellor For One Day” at the university.
Lotanna Azuokeke, a 15-year-old student from Ọba in Idemmili South Local Government Area, scored a record-breaking 337 marks in the JAMB examination.
Vitalis Iloanuwusi, a 400L student at the university, was also recognized for his academic achievements and was made GUO VC for one day.
Anieke emphasized the importance of supporting young people and empowering them to achieve their full potential.
He also commended the university’s program of challenging students to excel, noting that it has produced many successful graduates.
The donor of the car gift, Mr. Alphonsus Nwafor, encouraged students to have specific goals and visions for their education, and expressed his commitment to supporting both male and female students in their academic pursuits.
