The Vatican has confirmed that Pope Francis is currently unwell and had to skip meetings on Friday due to running a fever.

In March, the 86-year-old pontiff was hospitalized for acute bronchitis after experiencing a serious fever.

A Vatican official, who spoke anonymously, stated that Francis did not receive any visitors on Friday due to his feverish state.

Although there were no formal audiences scheduled, Francis maintains a private agenda of meetings with individuals he receives at his hotel.

Despite his illness, Francis had a busy week, attending various meetings and events.

He is expected to preside over Pentecost Mass on Sunday at St. Peter’s Basilica.
