A video has gone viral showing President Bola Tinubu making promises to reduce fuel prices during his campaign rally in Abeokuta.
However, just two months after being sworn into office, fuel prices have actually increased to N617 from N197.
This comes after Tinubu announced the removal of fuel subsidy in his inaugural speech.
In the video, Tinubu can be heard assuring the crowd that fuel prices would be reduced under his leadership, despite people’s concerns that prices would reach N200.
“The great Nigerian youths, the great Nigerian students, the confident Nigerian youths. This is a revolution. This election is a revolution. They are plotting, but they will fail. They said fuel prices will increase and reach N200/N500 per litre. Go and relax, we will crash the prices.”
He also expressed confidence in winning the election and addressing the issue of fuel supply.
However, the recent increase in fuel prices has led to criticism and accusations of dishonesty.
