West Ham United winger Mohammed Kudus has had his suspension extended to five matches and fined £60,000 ($77,286) for violent conduct during a Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur on October 19.
Kudus had already been serving an automatic three-match ban after receiving a red card for a foul on Spurs defender Micky van de Ven, which also led to an altercation with Pape Matar Sarr.
The incident, which took place in the 82nd minute of West Ham’s 4-1 defeat, saw Kudus push both Van de Ven and Sarr in the face.
After a VAR review, the referee upgraded his yellow card to a red, citing violent conduct.
The FA’s independent Regulatory Commission found Kudus guilty of the charge and imposed a two-match extension to his ban.
This means he will miss West Ham’s upcoming Premier League fixtures against Newcastle United and Arsenal.
Kudus expressed regret, apologizing to the commission and admitting he was “deeply embarrassed” by his actions.
In addition to Kudus’ fine, West Ham were penalized £30,000 for failing to control their players’ behavior during the incident, while Tottenham were fined £20,000 in October for their role.
West Ham expressed disappointment with the ruling but confirmed respect for the process.
This extended suspension means Kudus will miss several key matches for West Ham as they seek to maintain their strong form in the league.
