Erling Haaland has recently committed to Manchester City by signing a remarkable nine-and-a-half-year deal, which is projected to cost the club a staggering total by 2034.
This contract has raised many eyebrows, given the potential £260 million Haaland could earn over its duration.
Since joining City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 for £51.2m, the 24-year-old Norwegian striker has been a revelation, scoring 111 goals in 126 appearances and helping the club secure two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, and a Champions League.
Although there has been speculation about interest from Real Madrid, Haaland has committed his future to Manchester City.
His new contract will see a significant salary increase, with weekly wages rising from £375,000 to around £500,000, in addition to potential performance bonuses.
This will translate to £260m pre-tax over the contract’s duration, or £71,428 per day and £2,976 per hour.
In his own words, Haaland expressed his happiness about extending his stay at the club: “Manchester City is a special club, full of fantastic people with amazing supporters. I want to keep developing and help us achieve more success going forward.”
With the substantial sum Haaland will earn over the next 10 years added to his current reported net worth of £32m ($40m), his bank balance is set to reach well into nine figures.
This total also doesn’t account for the lucrative endorsements and performance bonuses that top stars like him regularly receive.
