During his early days in the music industry, Afrobeat star Davido had to resort to drastic measures to finance his aspirations.
In an interview with ABtalks, he revealed that his father initially refused to provide financial backing for his musical ambitions.
Determined to fund his dreams, Davido resorted to selling off household items, including televisions, and even contemplated selling his father’s prized possession, a Rolls Royce.
He even broke into his father’s house in Atlanta to sell off more items.
“So I blew up, remember I said that I told him I wanted to move back, but he disagreed. I ended up dropping out; he found out that I wasn’t in school for like a year. I broke into his house in Atlanta, sold all the TVs, sold his furniture. I almost sold his Rolls Royce because I was like, ‘Yeah, I want to do this music,’ but he didn’t want me to, so I was like, ‘You know what? I’m just about that crazy.’

Despite the risky move, Davido’s persistence paid off as he went on to become a successful artist.
