A group under the umbrella of Arewa Youth Forum (AYF) has called on the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to appoint Governor Simon Bako Lalong as the next Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
The call was made by the Arewa group’s Chairman, Haruna Bature, who stated that Lalong would bring more unity to the country, given his competence and capacity to bridge the political, religious, and ethnic gap.
Bature, who spoke to newsmen in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Friday, said that Lalong is a charismatic leader and a bridge builder who would unite the country if given the mandate to function as the SGF.
He further stressed that Lalong is a great man with competency and capacity, both in private and public works.
The AYF chairman also noted that Lalong had sacrificed his political career and life to ensure the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president of the Federal Republic. According to him, this is a great sacrifice worthy of recognition.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged that the governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, is set to emerge as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) in the incoming administration of President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
El-Rufai, thee outgoing governor of Kaduna State is a close ally of Tinubu.
It was gathered that Tinubu believes El-Rufai would be able to galvanise Ministers to implement his administration’s policies effectively.
A source disclosed that as SGF, El-Rufai would take over from Boss Mustapha in the incoming administration.
The appointment of El-Rufai as SGF, however, contradicts the AYF’s call for the appointment of Governor Simon Bako Lalong. It remains to be seen who will be appointed as the next SGF by President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
