During an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics program, former governor Ayodele Fayose expressed his belief that President Bola Tinubu should acknowledge and appreciate the members of the G-5 or Integrity Group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for their role in his victory in the 2023 presidential election.

Fayose specifically mentioned Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers state, stating that Wike has the qualifications to be a minister and should serve in Tinubu’s government.

The G-5 consists of four former PDP governors (Okezie Ikpeazu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Samuel Ortom, and Nyesom Wike) as well as one current governor, Seyi Makinde.

Fayose sees no issue with Wike being part of Tinubu’s cabinet and believes that Wike has the capabilities to serve Nigeria effectively.

He also expressed his willingness to be a minister if Tinubu offered him the position.

“What is wrong with that? How is anybody affected by that? I don’t want to be a minister but if Asiwaju (Tinubu) says ‘Fayose, you will be minister’ and I agree, what is their headache?

“I want Wike to be in the cabinet. Wike has what it takes to serve Nigeria. Wike is an articulate, capable person. If Asiwaju finds him or any of the G5 worthy, please serve in Asiwaju’s government.”
