Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong recently divulged that choosing to leave Watford for Serie A side Salernitana was the most difficult decision of his career.
The Nigerian international was instrumental in Watford’s successful promotion campaign in his first year but lost his position after a premature return from the Africa Cup of Nations last year.
In a recent interview with The Athletic, Troost-Ekong said, “This was the hardest choice I’ve had to make in my career,” noting that it wasn’t easy to abandon an opportunity of further progression with Watford after developing substantial investment and recognising what achieving promotion felt like.
After making his debut with Salernitana in an away 2-1 win against Leece last week, Troost-Ekong will continue to look forward to charting a progressive new path with his new club.
