Comedian Acapella has lashed out at Omoyele Sowore after the activist accused Peter Obi of being linked to the corrupt Abacha regime, NaijNaira can report.
Sowore made the claims in a lengthy post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
He alleged he never joined Bola Tinubu in narcotics deals, Atiku Abubakar in looting Customs, or Peter Obi in handling port operations for the late Sani Abacha.
Sowore also named other political figures including El-Rufai, Malami, and David Mark, accusing them of aiding corruption and violating human rights.
But it was his reference to Obi that triggered Acapella’s angry response.
“Peter never worked for the Abacha government, you lying unrepentant wanna-be hero,” Acapella wrote on X.
He explained that Obi’s role at Tin Can Port was voluntary and aimed at easing port congestion at a time when goods were stranded for months.
“Obi never received any salary for the few months he helped decongest the port, neither was he documented as an official appointee of the Abacha government,” Acapella added.
The comedian also blasted Sowore for his part in promoting Muhammadu Buhari’s presidency in 2015.
“The mere fact that you were the chief propagandist in bringing in that disaster, Buhari, into power… you have no morals to point out who is corrupt,” he wrote.
The online community quickly jumped into the clash with mixed reactions.
While some users praised Acapella for standing up to Sowore, others defended the activist’s right to question public figures.
