On Thursday, the District Head of Kasuwar Daji in the Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Ibrahim Sarkin Fada, was kidnapped by bandits in his residence.
According to reports, the bandits were in large numbers and stormed Kasuwar Daji village in the early hours of the day.
Eyewitnesses reported that the bandits went straight to the village head’s house, where they abducted him and took him to their camp.
In an attempt to discourage the villagers from rescuing the district head, the bandits fired multiple gunshots.
Residents of the area have expressed concern over the situation and are awaiting action from the security agents.
As of the time of filing this report, the security agents have not yet commented on the issue.
The kidnapping of the district head is just one of many incidents of banditry and other forms of criminal activity that have plagued Zamfara State and other parts of Nigeria in recent years.
