Everton have sacked Frank Lampard as their manager following a 2-0 defeat to West Ham, the club he spent his playing career with.
This meant the Toffees remain in the relegation zone of the Premier League and two points from safety.
Majority owner Farhad Moshiri made the decision to make the managerial change after holding talks with Lampard, alongside Chairman Bill Kenwright, on Sunday.
During Lampard’s reign at Everton, he managed 44 matches, winning only 12 with a win rate of 27.2 per cent – worse than former manager Rafael Benitez’s 31.8 per cent.
Sean Dyche is currently the favourite to take over from Lampard as manager while other contenders such as Wayne Rooney, David Moyes and Robert Martinez are being considered according to bookmaker odds.
Fan unrest at Everton have been building up against owner Moshiri and chairman Kenwright among others in response to recent poor performances.
After their loss to Southampton this last weekend, players such as Yerry Mina were held accountable outside Goodison Park and various banners protesting were seen at London Stadium during Monday’s match against West Ham.
