Samuel Chukwueze has been advised to step up his consistency following his recent showing at the Unity Cup, where he scored in Nigeria’s win over Jamaica.
NaijNaira learnt former Super Eagles striker Peter Ijeh shared his thoughts after Chukwueze’s display, urging the winger to refine his game and maintain form to remain relevant for both club and country.
“Being a left footer, he’s unique. But he has to really up and define his game. In everything, you need consistency,” Ijeh said in an interview with Brila FM.
Peter Ijeh, father of AC Milan striker Evelyn Ijeh, expressed that while Chukwueze possesses natural flair, talent alone isn’t enough at elite levels of the sport.
Worst Season at Club Level
Samuel Chukwueze himself admitted that the 2024–25 season was the toughest of his club career. Despite high hopes following his move to AC Milan, he scored only five goals across all competitions, including three in 36 league matches.
The Super Eagles attacker acknowledged fans’ unwavering support even during challenging times and promised to bounce back stronger in the upcoming season.
Speaking to Victor Modo, Chukwueze said he remains committed to AC Milan and aims to win major titles like the Scudetto or make a deep run in the Champions League.
Standout at the Unity Cup
Despite club-level struggles, the winger impressed during his national team call-up under Eric Chelle. He scored against Jamaica, giving Nigeria a vital win and reminding fans of his potential.
Although absent from the upcoming Russia match due to personal reasons, the Super Eagles attacker remains focused on improving and regaining form before the next set of international fixtures.
Future Expectations
Chukwueze’s Unity Cup performance served as a timely reminder of what he can bring when in rhythm. While questions linger over his club form, his Champions League hopes and national team displays offer encouragement.
As competition grows for spots in the Super Eagles squad, consistency may prove the key for Chukwueze to retain his role and deliver more memorable performances at both club and international levels.
