Tyler Perry is facing serious allegations in a civil lawsuit filed by actor Derek Dixon in Los Angeles Superior Court. The claims include sexual harassment, assault, and workplace retaliation.
Dixon, who appeared in Perry’s television series The Oval, is asking for $260 million in punitive damages, according to Forbes.
Court records state that Dixon first met Perry while working as event staff at a party hosted by the entertainment figure.
In 2019, Dixon was cast in Perry’s series Ruthless and later secured a larger role in The Oval.
According to the lawsuit, Perry allegedly sent Dixon unsolicited, sexually suggestive text messages.
Dixon further claims the situation escalated to physical assault on two separate occasions, one of which reportedly happened at Perry’s home.
The lawsuit also alleges that Perry used his influence to pressure Dixon, warning that his role could be cut from the show if he refused Perry’s advances.
Perry’s attorney, Matthew Boyd, strongly denied the accusations, saying, “This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than a scam.”
Boyd added, “Tyler Perry will not be shaken down, and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail.”
The case remains in the civil complaint stage, and no criminal charges have been filed.
Perry is known globally for his Madea films and has made a significant mark in television and film.
According to Forbes, his estimated net worth stands at $1.4 billion.
