Bill Cosby has expressed deep sorrow over the death of his longtime Cosby Show co-star Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who died at 54 while vacationing in Costa Rica, NaijNaira can report.
According to ABC News, Warner drowned on Sunday, July 20, 2025, after being swept away by a current while swimming.
Cosby, now 88, recalled working with Warner on the classic sitcom, describing him as “a great studier” and “very professional” throughout their years filming together.
“He always knew his lines, always knew where to go,” Cosby said, adding that the pair stayed in contact after the series ended. “Malcolm calls here regularly.”
Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) confirmed Warner died from asphyxia due to submersion. Authorities said he was pulled from the sea by bystanders but was declared dead at the scene.
Warner, known for roles in Suits, The Resident, and 9-1-1, was remembered by colleagues for his calm presence and kindness.
Jennifer Love Hewitt wrote, “This hurts my heart. An incredible talent and a gentleman.”
Comedian Sherri Shepherd added, “To know Malcolm was to know grace, humour, and deep cultural appreciation. He was just a good guy.”
She called his passing “a true loss to the Hollywood community” and praised him as a devoted father.
