MTN Nigeria has kicked off a new reality show, Next Afrobeats Star, aimed at discovering raw music talent and turning it into the next big sound in global Afrobeats — www.naijnaira.com reports.
According to report, the show is a joint effort between MTN, Ultima Studios, and ONErpm, and it comes with serious rewards—including a $100,000 music deal for the winner and up to $75,000 for finalists.
Contestants will go through both online and in-person auditions in cities like Jos, Lagos, and Enugu, with producers like Sarz, Puffy Tee, Andre Vibez, and P. Prime creating original beats for them to work with.
“Original songs are at the heart of this show—it’s what will set contestants apart,” said Femi Ayeni, CEO of Ultima Studios.
To register, participants must text NAS to 13013, receive a code, and complete the sign-up process on the official website.
ONErpm’s A&R team will sift through submissions to pick the top 300 for live trials.
“This show isn’t just a competition—it’s a full-blown talent accelerator,” said Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka of MTN.
The show also feeds into Nigeria’s Destination 2030 creative strategy, aiming to make the country a global cultural leader.
