According to Billboard, the “High” crooner inked the deal, with Def Jam Chief Executive Officer/Chairman Tunji Balogun praising Adekunle for his songwriting, artistry, vocals and showmanship.
Balogun had originally wanted to bring Def Jam into the Afrobeats space when he started at the label in 2022 and said that Adekunle was a perfect fit.
Adekunle likewise expressed his excitement at getting to work with Balogun, who understands their shared Nigerian roots.

He broke onto the Nigeria music scene in 2015 with his debut hit “Sade” before signing his first record deal with YBNL Nation and then releasing two albums – “Gold” (2017), followed by “About 30” (2018) and “Catch Me If You Can” (2022).
