Arsenal’s interest in Ademola Lookman seems to be cooling off. The Premier League club has reportedly opened talks with Nico Williams’ camp, with the intention of securing the winger in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to Soccernet.ng.

Lookman, currently playing for Atalanta, has made a name for himself in Serie A. Over the course of three seasons, he has netted 50 goals and provided 22 assists in 111 appearances for the club.

Earlier this season, it was made clear that the 27-year-old would be leaving Atalanta come the summer. His potential move to Arsenal, however, now seems unlikely as the Gunners focus on a new target.

Arsenal, fresh off the appointment of Andrea Berta as their new Sporting Director, have shifted their focus to signing Nico Williams. Berta has been proactive in fortifying the squad ahead of next season, making Williams a priority.

“Arsenal have started talking to Williams over a potential move in the summer,” says GFFN. This new direction could push Lookman’s move to Arsenal out of the picture.

With other talented left-wingers in their squad like Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, Arsenal seems to have less urgency in bringing in Lookman.

Despite the setback with Arsenal, Lookman is still drawing attention from other top European clubs. Teams like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Liverpool, and Chelsea have all shown interest in the Super Eagles forward.

According to Transfermarkt, Liverpool could be Lookman’s most likely destination, with the Reds needing to bolster their attacking options. The Nigerian forward is valued at €60 million, making him an attractive option for many clubs.

Lookman will now look to finish the season strong with Atalanta, with many eyes still on his potential next move.
