Arsenal secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Ipswich Town on Friday night, closing the gap to Premier League leaders Liverpool to just six points.
The Gunners took the lead in the 23rd minute when Leandro Trossard’s ball into the box was swept home by Kai Havertz.
Arsenal dominated possession with nearly 70% and registered 13 shots and over 660 passes.
However, the match remained tense as they failed to add to their lead, especially without the injured Bukayo Saka, while Ipswich defended resolutely.
Several pundits shared their views on the match.
Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit admitted he feared Ipswich might score a late equalizer, criticizing the Gunners for not putting the game to bed earlier.
“They should have killed the game off,” he said. Don Hutchison noted that although Arsenal didn’t win convincingly, they would be pleased to have secured three points, especially at this stage of the season.
Darren Bent added that Ipswich showed improvement in the second half but lacked the necessary quality to threaten Arsenal’s defense.
He concluded that Arsenal was not at their best but still managed to get the win and a clean sheet.
Despite the underwhelming performance, Arsenal will be relieved to have earned the three points, keeping their title chase on track.
