A petition calling for the ban of Marlian Music, the record label owned by Naira Marley, has gained over 50,000 signatures following the death of Nigerian music artist Mohbad.

Mohbad had alleged threats to his life and malicious treatment by Naira Marley and his friend Sam Larry after leaving the label.

Celebrities, including comedian Seyi Law and On Air Personality Chinedu Ani Emmaneul, have spoken out about the dark side of the Nigerian music industry and the need for record labels to let go of artists who choose to leave.

Sam Larry, who was accused of involvement in Mohbad’s death, has denied any connection and stated that the videos circulating online are from old events.

The police have promised to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of Mohbad’s death.
