Billionaire Businessman And Auto Tycoon Lanre Shittu Dead At 65
Mr Shittu was a successful entrepreneur who held the sole franchise for Mack brand vehicles in Nigeria and was the only dealer of Sany heavy duty equipment and Yutong buses in Nigeria
Popular Nigerian automobile tycoon, Olanrewaju Rasak Shittu, has died at the age of 65 according to reports.
Mr. Shittu was a renowned entrepreneur and held the sole franchise for Mack brand vehicles in Nigeria as well as being the only dealer of Sany heavy-duty equipment and Yutong buses in the country.
In addition, he was a licensed dealer of KIA and NISSAN brands, while also leading the supply of genuine spare parts to other dealers in Nigeria.
Despite his success, Mr Shittu had a number of disputes – notably, US and Nigerian agencies accused him of money laundering in 2000; this case eventually fell under lack of jurisdiction by the US District Court due to violation of extradition laws between both countries.
Before his passing away there was also a civil suit pending against him at the Federal High Court, Abuja over an attempt by government forces to extradite him to America with regard to said charge.
