The All Progressives Congress (APC) announced the immediate suspension of former Abia State governor, Orji Uzor Kalu over alleged anti-party activities.

A letter conveying Kalu’s suspension was signed by the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, Paul Nwabuisi; State Secretary, Chief Chidi Avajah, and the State Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu.

The letter noted that Kalu had been at loggerheads with many APC chieftains in Abia and he refused to heed warnings.

It stated that his suspension was due to the fact that he had violated Article 21B(i-v) of the APC Constitution.

Kalu had been accused of working against the APC governorship candidate as well as promoting his brother Mascot’s candidacy for another party instead.

In a recent interview, he publicly justified his actions, claiming Emenike never informed him formally of being in the race and accused him of having long-standing grievances against him.

However, Abia APC viewed this as an act of selfishness and attempted political desperation on Kalu’s part.
