The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has criticized the decision of the Kano State Election Petition Tribunal to remove Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf from office, calling it a miscarriage of justice.
The party’s Acting National Chairman, Abba Kawu Ali, stated that the tribunal unfairly deducted 165,663 votes from the party’s result in order to award victory to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ali described the judgement as laughable and a violation of constitutional principles.
The NNPP plans to appeal the decision and has called on its supporters and the people of the state to remain calm and abide by the law.
The tribunal’s ruling ordered the withdrawal of Governor Yusuf’s certificate of return and directed a certificate of return to be issued to Yusuf Gawuna of the APC.
The court deemed 165,663 votes as invalid due to the lack of stamp or signature on the ballot papers.
