Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu of Ondo State has extended his medical leave based on the advice of his doctor.
In a letter sent to the State House of Assembly, Governor Akeredolu stated that his decision was in accordance with Section 190 of the Nigerian Constitution.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, received the letter and confirmed that Deputy Governor Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa would continue to act as Governor until further notice.
Governor Akeredolu had previously informed the House of his medical leave in a letter dated June 5, 2023, with the expectation of resuming on July 6, 2023.
The Speaker expressed gratitude for the Governor’s speedy recovery and expressed confidence in his return to his duties in the near future.
